Business Operations Analysis

“Why didn’t anyone ever teach me how to do this stuff??”

It’s a question that comes up a lot for small business owners. There are so many skills we have to learn on our own, especially those of us with no formal education or prior experience owning a business. It feels like the stakes are high, and sometimes you don’t know what you don’t know.

But you don't have to figure it all out on your own.

Every business is built on two fundamental elements: a business model, and an operational foundation supporting that model.

Your business model is how you serve your customers and create value for them (and revenue for yourself!) Your operational foundation is the set of systems, processes, and safeguards you have in place to make your business model work.

I’m talking about things like financial management, client/customer experience, team management, risk avoidance, setting internal and client-facing policies–all the day-to-day things that are critical to success, but can get overlooked in favor of the more “fun” aspects of running your business.

Because honestly, business operations can be pretty boring (unless you’re me, I love this stuff!)

But a business without a solid foundation will crumble sooner rather than later. It really matters to get this stuff right. Especially if growth or scaling is your goal–your top priority should be making your foundation as strong as possible first.

My background in corporate business operations, combined with my business ownership experience (more about that here), have given me a unique point of view here. I’ve seen the top-tier operational techniques for supporting a huge company, but I also know what actually matters when it comes to running a much smaller business.

This is about making your business work better, not loading you up with a bunch of unnecessary corporate-y overhead.

During my Business Operations Analysis process, we’ll deep-dive into your business’s operational foundation and business model, discover opportunities to make improvements, and create a clear path forward to strengthen and protect your business.

How it Works

First, we’ll have a free 30-minute call to discuss the specifics of your business and what your Business Operations Analysis would include. After our call, I’ll share a detailed written proposal with all the information you need about how we can work together.

Next, we’ll meet for our operational deep dive sessions to dig into the inner workings of your business.

Finally, I’ll draft a detailed, personalized Operations Analysis Recommendations Report for you and your business. It’ll have specific recommendations and immediate next steps for you to solve existing operational issues and prevent new ones. The report will also include a multi-phase plan of how these actions will fuel your business’s success moving forward.

Here’s a what a phased plan could look like for a business owner who wants to scale, but needs to solidify their operations first:

The Recommendations Report then delves into why these phases are important for your business, and gives concrete next steps to achieve the core goals listed for each phase (and no, you don’t need to be scaling your business for an analysis like this to be useful! This is just one example.)

High-support upgrade (optional add-on): I’ll provide hands-on support to implement select recommendations in your Operations Analysis Recommendations Report. The details will be tailored to each individual client, but I can assist with projects like creating and analyzing a cash flow forecast, drafting client communication templates, documenting & streamlining repeated business processes, and more.

Investment

For two 90-minute assessment sessions, plus a personalized Operations Analysis Recommendations Report—$375 paid in two installments: $200 deposit, $175 due upon delivery of your Recommendations Report.

Pricing for the optional high-support upgrade is dependent on the specific recommendations included in the analysis report, starting at $300.
